Choknee Academy fighters win bouts in Leeds

THAI-STYLE excellence was to the fore for a brace of upcoming fighters from the York-based Chokdee Academy, writes Tony Kelly.
Dan Malarky and Danny Harrison-Little both won their bouts at a show in Leeds with knockouts after stylish knee work, prompting one wag to suggest the club could be called the Choknee Academy.
Malarkey took quite a big hit from his opponent, Liam Hoddes of the Manchester-based Masters Sken Academy, in the second round. But the York ace rallied with a series of accurate counter-punching and then in the third round, buoyed by encouragement by Academy founder and former world champion Richard Cadden, brought about a stoppage.
Harrison-Little, who has just returned from intensive training and competition in Thailand, was even quicker to victory in his English title eliminator against Steve Winstanley.
Relaxed from the off, Harrison-Little was just too accomplished for his rival who winced under a peach of a knee shot to the ribs before a stoppage was sounded after just one minute and 32 seconds of the contest.
Harrison-Little will be next in action in three weeks at the Chang Cup in Bournemouth.
